Moonville Farms chose to build on Myria. Here’s why…

Blockchain games using the play-to-earn (P2E) model are becoming a thing of the past and slowly making way for a new generation of play-and-earn (P&E). Moonville Farms, set within a moonscape environment, is one such title that fully supports this model of the future, promoting a sustainable ecosystem and an addictive gameplay loop.
To achieve this ‘model of the future’, the Moonville team required the security of Ethereum along with the high-speed transactions, scalability, and zero gas fees that only the best Layer 2 blockchain solutions can deliver. For these reasons and others, Moonville chose to partner with and build upon Myria.
What is Moonville Farms?
In Moonville Farms, you take control of your own farming base on the Moon, starting with some buildings and an initial batch of resources. The goal is to develop your economy and create more complex resources. This is easier said than done, however, as unless you’re already a ‘Tycoon God’ the game, whilst easy to play, is far from easy to master.
Moonville Farms will test your skills to manage the workflow as you try to find the perfect balance between trading and paying your workers. With weekly tournaments and plenty of rewards, Moonville Farms has been one of the most anticipated games of the year.

“We explored concepts that rely on our love of sci-fi and the notion of what would be fun in Moonville's setting. Using a variety of familiar drones with different functions and roles to harvest and produce resources, we’ve also introduced new characters and innovative game mechanics we hope Moonville’s fast-growing community will love.” - says Kliment Kalchev, creative lead at Moonville,
Powering up the blockchain gaming experience
In creating and building Moonville Farms, one of the main drivers for the team at Leapblock Studios was to deliver a more high-brow gaming experience that wasn’t (like many other games in the space) so dumbed down it could be played, and often won, by P2E bots.
Inspired by the P&E mode, Moonville Farms sets out to resolve some of the biggest challenges facing the world of blockchain gaming—namely tedious gameplay and unsustainable economies with shabby tokenomics and high inflation. With its deep focus on enjoyable gameplay ensuring the main incentive for players to join isn’t just earning tokens, Moonville Farms has remedied both of these issues.
Kliment says, “If you want to keep players engaged, it’s vital you build blockchain games that are, first and foremost, fun. Unfortunately, very few titles achieve this, prioritizing economics over enjoyment. Our aim through Moonville Farms, however, has been to invite people to connect through positively challenging and satisfying gameplay, underpinned by a sensibly considered and well-executed in-game economy.”

About Moonville Farms’ closed-loop economy
One of the biggest problems inherent to most play-to-earn games is token price volatility. If the game’s economy is too volatile, players will be constantly coming and going in waves, led almost entirely by the rise and fall of the game’s token price.
To address this uncertainty, the development team behind Moonville Farms has implemented a play-and-earn model which brings stability to the game’s ecosystem, known as a closed-loop economy. So, how does this work?
Unlike many other blockchain games, a fixed and final amount of Moonville tokens has been minted. Since there is no constant minting and burning as happens with many other titles, this allows the team to control inflation. Then, through gameplay, tokens get redistributed across the player base, making it much easier to maintain a healthy economy within the game.
A sensible rewards mechanism
Another interesting feature of Moonville Farms’ economy is its rewards mechanism, which is backed by a treasury pool. It’s widely known in Web3 gaming communities that the two biggest factors which determine in-game rewards are player skill and engagement. Players usually receive these rewards by way of tokens or NFTs. At the same time, the treasury pool is replenished with tokens from gaming and activity sales and fees. This means that, should player engagement drop, there will always be enough tokens in the pool for payouts to ensure the economy remains stable.
Myria’s gaming pedigree proved a magnet for Moonville
Kliment says, “Myria’s founders are no strangers to gaming. Each of the members has vast experience from some of the biggest triple-A studios we know. They recognise that the gaming space is changing and that building on the blockchain and being part of the Web3 revolution is the future.
“There aren’t many blockchains dedicated entirely to gaming,” he adds. “And there aren’t many with the technology to help games like Moonville achieve scale, with the added bonus of zero NFT minting fees and super-fast transaction speeds. Myria manages to do all of these things, so it was an easy choice for us to work with their teams on our project.”
